Psychography is automatic writing, drawing, etc. that is considered to be an action of channeling spirits, the body acting as medium. This is done in trance, obsession or possession states. Automatic communication has occurred among people in a conscious state without their awareness of the action and distinct personality and knowledge variants (e.g.: fluency in an ancient language) have been documented. Psychography is also considered to be an action of attaining the mental picture of the person's personality and its influences from the past. In these terms, the "spirits" being channeled could be past incarnations through unconscious soul memories influencing the present.

In producing this image, I cleared my head of thoughts and images and practiced a form of psychography. I live in an apartment that was sectioned off from an old mansion built around 1840. The section I'm in is the ballroom and smokeroom of this mansion... and the woman (in the foreground) looks as if she is dressed for a party...
