Hopi Prophecy

“Hopi”, a word that means peaceful, kind, gentle, wise, and truthful, denotes a Pueblo people of southwestern North America. The Hopis live in northeast Arizona at the southern end of the Black Mesa. A mesa is a steep-sided hill with a plateau at the top where the Hopi villages reside. Their apartment dwellings, called pueblos, were several story high terraced structures of adobe and stone that clustered around a central plaza. It is believed, which evidence indicates, that these people consist of descendants of various groups who migrated to this area from the four directions. Their direct ancestors, the Anasazi, were related to the peoples of central Mexico such as the Aztecs and Mayans. They arrived in their current location at least five thousand years ago. Although the Hopi community has existed as multifarious independent villages, they have acted as a cultural egregore of the same basic values of life, language and the sacred. Recently, elders have come forth to share their ancestral prophecies, these of which have increasingly become known as many people have come to believe that the signs foretold have happened in the last century. The Native American peoples have a tradition of prophecy that seems to have an utmost high degree of correlation. Recordings of these communications were written on two ancient stone tablets. These have been carbon dated to at least 10,000 years ago, and have been continuously in the safe keeping of the Hopi people since. Hopi elders have passed these warnings to further generations through word of mouth and with reference to these ancient rock drawings and tablets, keeping track of those that have been fulfilled and paying close attention to warning signs of the coming time (moment). The correlations to modern events are too numerous to account unless this paper were to expand to 23 pages.
The Hopi elders speak of three prior human epochs when man rose to great technological heights only to destroy himself. They believe it will happen again unless humans change. The teachings say that at the beginning of this world cycle, the Great Spirit gave each of the four races of people (Black, White, Red, Yellow), two tablets encoded with simple instructions on how to live in alignment with the Great Spirit, and what will occur if this is violated. The initiating intent was to live by the directives of these tablets in every generation, culminating with a time when all of the races would come together in peace. They then would combine all their knowledge, the tablets would be joined together and in this state of unity the great civilization of actualized humanity would be made manifest. The tablets foretold that many of the Earth’s peoples would not remain true to the initiating instructions of the original intent to uphold all life as sacred and part of the Great Spirit. Therefore, it was explained that the Great Spirit would shake the Earth at three different checkpoints in history when too many people had strayed into the diseases of greed, hatred, self-interest and disconnection from the heart. Each great shaking of the Earth was intended to get our attention to reevaluate and realign ourselves to what matters. However, eventually, they said there would come a "Time of Purification," one last brief opportunity for each human to return to the “Path of the Heart”, before the door would close. Then the entire Earth would experience purification, and only those who chose to embrace the Way of Peace would survive to transmutate unto the next world cycle.
Speaking before the United Nations General Assembly in 1992, Hopi elder Thomas Banyacya gave a speech before the United Nations’ General Assembly and told of this succession of three worlds, each destroyed because humans turned away from natural and spiritual laws and in their greed turned toward material possessions. He announced that we are now in the fourth world and approaching the threshold unto the fifth. He warned:
"The elders said that . . . only small groups escaped the destruction of the third world and came to this fourth world where we now live. Now our world is in terrible shape again today. . . . The Hopi knew that humans would develop many powerful technologies that would be abused. In this century we have seen the First World War and the Second World War in which the predicted gourd of ashes, which you call the atomic bomb, fell from the sky with great destruction. Many thousands of people were destroyed in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. For many years there has been great fear and danger of World War Three. The Hopi believe the Persian Gulf War was the beginning of World War Three, but it was stopped, and the worst weapons of war were not used. This is now a time to weigh the choices for the future. We do have a choice. If you, the nations of this Earth, create another great war, the Hopi believe we humans will burn ourselves to death with ashes."
But Banyacya spoke to a nearly empty chamber; his words were largely ignored. So a year later, twenty eight Native American spiritual elders (including Banyacya) came to the United Nations to speak at the Cry of the Earth Conference:
“Within the House of Mica, the native speakers called for unity, and agreed that we have already entered the time of `withering fruit'--a time when erratic weather patterns, earth movements, starvation, violence, and war have come to pass with great frequency and intensity, as the Grandmothers and Grandfathers of antiquity had foretold”.
Banyacya observed that,“as Native Americans, we believe the rainbow is a sign from the Spirit in all things;. It is a sign of the union of all peoples, like one big family. The unity of all humanity… is essential”.
As Banyacya saw it, the problems of our society are rooted in human thinking clouded by attachments to the world of material comforts- materialism. To solve these problems we have only to reawaken spiritually to our innate spiritual bond with all of life as our relations, and to all people as one human collective.
White Feather, an elder from the Hopi Bear Clan, exclaimed, “"The Fourth World shall end soon, and the Fifth World will begin. This the elders everywhere know. The Signs over many years have been fulfilled, and so few are left.
"This is the First Sign: We were told of the coming of the white-skinned men, like Pahana, but not living like Pahana -- men who took the land that was not theirs and who struck their enemies with thunder. (Guns)
"This is the Second Sign: Our lands will see the coming of spinning wheels filled with voices. (Covered wagons)
"This is the Third Sign: A strange beast like a buffalo but with great long horns, will overrun the land in large numbers. (Longhorn cattle)
"This is the Fourth Sign: The land will be crossed by snakes of iron. (Railroad tracks)
"This is the Fifth Sign: The land shall be criss-crossed by a giant spider's web. (Power and telephone lines)
"This is the Sixth Sign: The land shall be criss-crossed with rivers of stone that make pictures in the sun. (Concrete roads and their mirage-producing effects.)
"This is the Seventh Sign: You will hear of the sea turning black, and many living things dying because of it. (Oil spills)
"This is the Eighth Sign: You will see many youth, who wear their hair long like our people, come and join the tribal nations, to learn our ways and wisdom. (Hippies)
"And this is the Ninth and Last Sign: You will hear of a dwelling-place in the heavens, above the earth, that shall fall with a great crash. It will appear as a blue star. Very soon after this, the ceremonies of the Hopi people will cease. (The Blue Star Kachina – Sirius)
“You will see a time when the eagle flies its highest in the night and it will land on the Moon. The NASA spacecraft named "The Eagle" landed on the moon in 1969. In fact, the words from the astronauts were: "The Eagle has landed."
“Many of the Native peoples and members of the other races will be sleeping by then. The time of the eagle on the moon is a time when some people will wake up.”
“Human beings are going to find the blueprint that makes them (DNA). They are going to cut this blueprint and make new animals upon the earth (genetic engineering). They are going to think these new animals are going to help us. They will seem harmless at first, but future generations of people will suffer.”
“You will see new animals and even the old animals will be brought back, the ones which have disappeared.”
“Things will speed up; the people on the earth will move faster and faster. Time will speed up. People will not have time for one another. Villages will be so vast you will not be able to see from one end to the other. They will be like prairies of stone full of hollow people.”
“The white man will build a house and throw it into the sky (space stations). When there are people living in the sky on a permanent basis, you will know the Great Spirit is about to grasp the earth with both hands.”
“Whoever dropped the first gourd of ashes (atomic bomb), now another gourd of ashes is going to drop on them. There will be a time when the villages of stone (cities and skyscrapers) will be there in the morning, and by evening they will just be steam coming from the ground. Great rivers will boil.”
“The Great Day of Purification will occur when the forces of the swastika, the Sun,(Germany and Japan of WWII) and a third force symbolized by the color red (China?) culminate in total annihilation and/or total rebirth.”
“Some people who have awakened and are living in harmony with the Earth, will survive the third shaking. Eventually there will be another attempt to make a circle of the human beings left on earth.”
"These are the Signs that great destruction is here: The world shall rock to and fro. The white man will battle people in other lands- those who possessed the first light of wisdom (Mesopotamia). There will be many columns of smoke and fire such as the white man has made in the deserts not far from here (atomic bombs). Those who stay and live in the places of the Hopi shall be safe. Then there will be much to rebuild. And soon, very soon afterward, Pahana will return. He shall bring with him the dawn of the Fifth World. He shall plant the seeds of his wisdom in our hearts. Even now the seeds are being planted. These shall smooth the way to the Emergence into the Fifth World."
The Hopi made dolls called Kachinas that were carved out of wood, clothed in masks and costumes to look like the men who dressed up as the Kachina spirits. The Kachinas, or gods/goddesses, were beings of great might and power to the Hopi. They were known to come down to Earth and actually help the Native Americans tend their fields and give them wisdom pertaining to the proper way of life and civilization. They were believed to have interacted with the people on all levels.
Hopi utilized sacred ceremonial places to honor the Earth, these ritual environments were underground spaces called Archivas. These are the places that the shamans would go into to perform their most sacred work. The reason that Archivas are built into the earth for sacred ritual is because according to legend, at the destruction at each of the ages of mankind the people that were pure of heart went down into the bosom of the Earth and there remained protected. According to them they dwelt in the center of the Earth with a group of beings that they call the Ant People. Drawings of the Ant People are remarkable similar to the popular image of Grey extraterrestrials of today- large heads, little bodies, and long spindly fingers. Some of these drawings even have the indication of telepathic thought waves coming from the beings' heads.
The Hopi thought of the sky’s constellations very similarly to other peoples around the globe. They called them by different names but the star arrangements were very similar. They believed these star-drawn maps were certain keys to extradimensional portals, or “sky holes” as they called them. Beyond the dimensional portals was an area that they called the “Ocean of Pitch”, the backdrop to the beauty of the night sky. Beyond the oceanic void were the boundaries of the universe, and along the rim were 4 different extraterrestrial groups.
According to the Hopi and other Native American prophecies, we are in the Time of Purification right now. We still can wake up and live in peace as one family. This phase has two parts. The first is a last, brief chance for humanity to love, honor and respect each other and the Earth. This world and our minds are on the threshold of the doorway to who we are. If we do not remain in contact and balance with our hearts then the door closes, and the most violent shaking of the Earth by the Great Spirit becomes the manifested reality. The function of prophecy is not to instill fear. It is to remind us that our individual and collective thoughts, feelings and actions significantly determine which probability gains enough momentum to materialize. The answer that is stated in one way or another by most world traditions including the Hopi, is to embrace the Path of the Heart. The Path of the Heart ultimately means living with the conscious expression of love, respect, balance and compassion towards yourself, everyone and everything. We have come to the end of our rope playing out a polarized, greedy, abusive, dishonoring script in the theater of reality. We either live together as family, or the human species becomes extinct.
The first cycle of time was the cycle of spirit, the second of the mineral, the third of the plant, the fourth (now) of the animal. The next is the cycle of the human being. What is foretold is that the highest and greatest powers that we have in our DNA blueprint will be released to us from the Great Spirit in the fifth cycle. We must choose, and swing on the heart spiral of our being and still be human.
